In our journey to authenticity, we may discover our parent, studying us carefully in the mirror. We may realize one day that we grew up to "become" our mother (or father). As I learn about me, it teaches me things about mom, and then I discover more about me, and so on.
To truly "know" ourselves, it helps to know "our people," the people who raised us and influenced our lives most profoundly; parents, grandparents, and others.
I was watching the movie "Rumor Has It," and suddenly realized I was mourning never having been "daddy's little girl." I loved and admired my daddy, I just wasn't made of the same "stuff" as he and my brother were. I was clearly made of "mommy stuff."
